- Hello- I had lasik in 2006 - overall things have been generally decent. My right eye has ghosting, but I think a pair of glasses will do the trick (as I held up my old glasses with a little bit of distance I could see clearly - so I went to my optometrist and he said I have a little bit of astigmatism and glasses should fix it) I know I can probably go back to surgery for an enhancement, but I am just terrified because there just seems to be crazy stories out there and I only got the surgery in the first place because contacts were irritating my eyes so badly they would turn bloodshot and itch and in my line of work, glasses wasn't really practical. I believe I had good surgery, and my optometrist says the person who did my surgery did an excellent job (I just had an eye exam one week ago),...so I feel good about it. However, with my left eye, very recently, it seems like it's getting a little hazier than I recall in prior 2 years. Is this normal? It really only happens in lower lit situations...anyway, the only thing that's changed in my routine is I've recently been working behind a computer screen for up to 8-10 hours a day...could it be my eyes are straining a little and this could be what's making the left eye a little more hazy? Also - I've been reading about retinal detachment, cataracts etc (just so I'm informed) and I just want to make sure that if I ever had any things like that start to occur and I didn't see any symptoms, would these be things the optomometrist catches early on in routine eye exams? Or should I go visit an opthamologist to tell me if I have any of these things? It's to my understanding the optometrist can detect these things and then if needed refer one to an opthamologist? In other words, if my optometrist says everything looks good, do I stop with him? Or because I had lasik should I go see an opthamologist for routine eye checkups? Sorry for the long email...I appreciate your taking the time to read. Best, AJ.
