I'm farsighted and have astigmisism would I be a good candidate Lasik. Also how much does it cost?

Hello. I am considering having Lasik done out in Spain (where I currently live). I have been instructed to remove my contact lenses before the initial consult (where the eyes are dilated). I will have been without contacts for 11 days before the consult. But, my operation is scheduled for the next day if the doctor determines I am a candidate. I have two questions. First, is 12 days of not wearing contactgs sufficient time before the operation? Second, if the doctor dilates my eyes on one day, can he do the operation to the eyes the next day? Will the dilation create any problems for the Lasik procedure? Thanks for your help.

If I extremely worried about my dry eyes despite my doctor assuring me that my eyes are slighty dry, is there anything i can do pre-lasik to insure i wont have dry eyes? would prk be more appropiate?

Sir, I am a physician considering LASIK. I have the option of doing the Interlace surgery (Visix, Custom Vue. Clinic website: http: / / www.mneyeinstitute.com / ) in the US for $2100 per eye VERSUS getting it done in my home country, India ($500 per eye) using EPI-LASIK method (hopital website: www.http: / / www.chaithanyalasik.com / html / procedure.htm My question: is one procedure better than the other OR are they both equally good? If one is considered better than the other, then I would not take chance with my eyes. But, if both are of same quality then I would save money when I visit my home later this year. Thanks!

I am 65 years old. I was diagnosed with both keratoconus AND pellucid marginal degeneration only in the past year (although, in retrospect, I probably had keratoconus in my early 40s, but was not properly diagnosed at that time). My daughter is 35 years old. She wants to have Lasix done. She went for a consultation recently. She was told she had healthy corneas; but she was also told she has astigmatism. Hi Dr.DelloRusso,I had my lasik surgery done on Dec.13th 2007. Both of my eyes are dry after the surgery. I am using Restasis twice a day, refresh plus every hour, refresh PM gel at night, bottom tear ducks are plugged and still my cornia has some dry spots. Due to dry spots my vision is not very clear. I was being told to use Lotemax 4 times a day. My cornia is already thin, do you think this drop would thin out cornia more? Would it help to remove dry spots? Would I need to take this treatment short term? Would it also improve my vision? Is it common to get dry spots on cornia after Lasik? Does the vision get better after dry eyes get treated?

Hello Dr. Russo, I am thinking of going for Epi-lasik surgery (I have declared a good candidate) 2 weeks from now. But my friend warned me not to do it because as the cornea is healing, scar tissue will form un-uniformly, and this will obstruct the eyesight. I want to know how true is this and what is the risk related to scar tissues. Thank you :)

I was just evaluated by my doctor and told that my eyes (around -9.00 in each eye) could be brought back to around 20 / 20 or 20 / 30 with PRK. 1) Do you agree with this assessment? 2) For comparison, what would 20 / 30 vision be in diopeters? 3) I dislike wearing glasses. If after the surgery I still required some sort of corrective lens, would contacts still be an option? 4) My doctor will be out of town the first full week after my surgery- would you suggest postponing it? Thanks so much!

Also, the PRK procedure would be done with the VISX4 laser whereas the Lasek procedure would be done with the new Allegretto laser. Which would you prefer?
